The European Commission (EC) has launched the call for proposals to Support for an Inclusive Democratic Governance in Gabon.

Objectives
  • The general objective of this call for proposals is to contribute to the promotion and protection of democracy, respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law. 

  • The specific objective of this call for proposals is to contribute to the development of a resilient, inclusive and democratic society, which strengthens representativeness, participation, inclusiveness and the functioning of democracy.

Priorities
  • The priorities of this call for proposals are:

    • Strengthening the role of civil society in building a more democratic society, through advocacy activities for reforms in favor of transparency, public and citizen awareness, and the evaluation of laws, policies, measures, and practices that impact the democratic functioning of society. Particular attention will be paid to the work of youth and women's organizations and movements.

    • Strengthening the representation of young people and women in institutions, decisions and democratic process.

  • The participation of women's and youth CSOs must be encouraged and supported as a priority.

Funding Information
  • The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is EUR 602,000

  • Any grant requested under this call for proposals must be between the following minimum and maximum amounts:

    • minimum amount: EUR 580,000

    • maximum amount: EUR 602,000

Duration
  • The initial planned duration of an action cannot be less than 12 months nor exceed 36 months.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:

    • be a legal person, and

    • have no profit motive, and

    • belong to one of the following categories of organizations: CSOs and/or associations of CSOs active in human rights or democratic governance, and

    • be effectively established in Gabon or in a Member State of the European Union, and

    • be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and the affiliate entity(ies), without acting as an intermediary.
